Busy since the start of IAP. Traveling for 2 hours everyday to and fro from work is taking a toll on my health. Feels like a robot every morning. In fact, after working 12 days straight (OT on sat & sun) I'm having time lapse. I lost my sense of time/days for a while. Wake up thinking its still Friday when its Sunday. Ugh.
Undeniable Fact: Foreigners (take a guess) are going to take over the workforce soon.
Supporting Fact for the "Undeniable Fact": I board the bus with Chinese Nationals back to Harbourfront. Bus stops at PSA and loaded a bunch of Indian Nationals. Shared the MRT with a mixture of Chinese & indian nationals. I was sitting down, I closed my eyes and rested for a few MRT stops. I opened my eyes and I saw the whole carriage was filled with foreigners. I was the ONLY Singaporean... I'm scared... :'(
I'm going to enlist next year. So I thought... Who am I defending? :(
So yes, Christmas. I don't really like going out on Christmas, but I did anyway :/. I prefer throwing my body onto a bed, lie down and recollect my memories of the year that would be ending very soon. We're growing to be too busy to do such things anymore.
Work makes me feel old. A slave for money.

First day of attachment was nothing good. Although I only spent my time there from 9.30am to 12.30pm, I'm already demoralised. Like a little sheep, disorientation and lost in the sea of translation. I can't understand most of what they say.
Yes, they all speak Mandarin (I speak Manglish: Mandarin+English). Sat in a meeting and I couldn't catch anything. Computer language + Mandarin = A very Confused Wei Kang. Nonetheless, I hope I can cope with all this xenophobia going on inside me. I worry about if I can reply to what they say properly. I tend to say stupid things sometimes when I'm not familiar with the person.
I don't think I can communicate well with them... Don't know whats gonna happen tomorrow during lunchtime :/.
Anyway, the highlight for today was not work but my CMPB checkup with my FRIENDS. DUDE IT WAS SUCH A RELIEF TO SEE MY FRIENDS. Finally the sheep was back with the herd. So elated to see them, really. Wow, I can't believe I miss my friends so quickly... :(. Working sucks.
Ok anyway, back to CMPB. Tests went well, PES A I hope. Very surprised at the Blood testing phase. The medic was talking to me a lot, joked (but not easy jokes, quite scary).
Medic - "Hey you know i dont like meridian JC people"
Me - "Okay..."
Medic - "Where you from? Meridian JC?" (holding up needle)
Me - "Nooo... thats not a very good question"
Medic - "Ya good, MJ people are ******"
Me - "Okay, thats not very encouraging... I'm from NYP."
LOL. Then I was staring at the needle while it went into my skin. It was quite a sharp pain, but painful enough to make me jump. But I flinched because it was quite disgusting, so very weird. I was making an "Ughhhh" sound when the blood came out. Medic asked "Got so pain meh", and I replied "No la, damn weird sia... like weird...".
Then JAP BUFFET @ 313. Omg the Shabu Shabu was GREAT. Dude. Great good, great place, great FRIENDS = AWESOME! We feasted, joked, laughed a hell lot. Friends are really important man...
3 Hours of work made me miss my friends so much. So much. I miss everyone now. Guess I shall stop here, if not I'll start to sound like a little girl.

The Front Porch

I've been watching How I Met Your Mother since 8pm! Theres some very heartwarming parts which I really like a lot.
Anyway, internship's gonna start tomorrow. Feeling very anxious as to what I'm gonna do. Will I screw up? Hope not. Working environment has always been a step out of my comfort zone. I've no work experience, living off my parents since 16 October 1991. Lets see how it goes tomorrow :D.

Yesterdays

This is probably the last time we would converge in school.
These two and a half years had been a blast for me. Its filled with hits and misses.
Some small & short parts were the highlights of my life in school. Great times, happenings and friends. As I go through all these wonderful memories in my mind, I can't stop but think about how I met all these wonderful people. Surprising gems, I must say...
However, some memories were filled with regrets and agony. Regrets of not going out and talking to people, making more friends (after much thought, i think i'm better off this way haha). Agony, rather not talk about it.
I'll miss so much about the time I've spent (with my friends) in NYP. I leave with precious memories :). So here I conclude the chapters of my life in NYP. Off to internship and early adulthood. Time will not wait for anybody. Wish me luck on Monday.

I've always tried my best to help anybody who come to me for help. If I know I can't help them, I'll redirect them to someone else with more expertise or give them a few ideas. I know not everyone of these people that I've help will reciprocate with the same amount of charity. A lot of them have let me down, used me and cheated my efforts. When some of my friends get to know of it, they will ask me "Why bother helping them when you're not sure if they will help you in return?".
But why don't we help people? Why do we fear that our efforts might not be properly appreciated? Are we really that calculative?
Yes, good & bad people. Some will say things like: "Don't be too helpful to people, later get used ah". This statement seems to be very true in modern life(work/school). Why bother helping people that might not return a favour? Thus we are reject anybody who approach us for help. The results? A cold & heartless society.
But remember the good will always outlast the bad.

Zero point freaking four.
A pretty shocking revelation (Zero point freaking four) was revealed to me a few days ago. I roughly know why I'm not in "it" anymore. Zero point freaking four. Although I thought (and still think) that (Zero point freaking four) its totally B.S, I've got to accept my fate, Zero point freaking four. (Okay, let the man grief for a while)
I built a sandcastle on a hypothetical plot of a beach. Just as I'm about to complete my super awesome sandcastle, a big wind come blowing by which in turn brought massive waves to the shores. Destroying my (super awesome and potentially destiny-changing) sandcastle in the process. I don't know where that bigass wind comes from, but it sure did bring waves which destroyed my (potentially destiny-changing) sandcastle.
So what do you do if your (destiny-changing) sandcastles are destroyed? You build them again... (which is not fun at all)
I know I'm not (appearing to) making sense here. Maybe I'm not using good metaphors (sandcastles), but people who knows what I'm feeling and what I've been through will know what I'm trying to relate to (really?).
But still, I think that bigass wind is total B.S. Just like the results. Zero point freaking four.

Received a call from my teacher while on the bus to school this morning. Bad news, didn't get into the finals. Disappointed. Instant decimation of my high spirits.
L- "Disappointed ma? Hai ok ba?"
WK- "Hah. Dang ran you yi dian disappointed la... wo hai hao.." "Ok, I'll tell them about it..."
Instantly, I became the herald of good&bad news to certain people. Some concerned individuals started to sms me about my & their results. Said what I needed to say to some, explained what I had to explain.
Honestly, I'm pretty shocked at the outcome. I spent a good amount of time recalling about what I've done... I don't know where did I went wrong! I hope I'll get an explanation even though the outcome will not change (at least it will give me a peace of mind).
On the bright side, I'm relinquished of all wss trainings and back to "normal" life. At first I thought: "hey, more free time, song boh." But my dreams of having more free time were smashed when I realised that FYP was coming my way -_-". Tasked to do something that I've no idea what its about, guess its FYP afterall.
I'm still pretty lost right now (partly due to the fact that I've been laid off, Lulz). I need a plan.
OH FALLOUT NEW VEGAS WILL BE OUT TOMORROW. YEAH SOMETHING TO LOOK FOR TO DROWN MYSELF IN :D.

Chen Zhen

Spent my Sunday watching "Legend of the Fist: Return of Chen Zhen" on the computer. Many of my friends criticised the show for the lack of fight/action scenes. However I think its few japanese-face smashing scenes were just enough.
Donnie Yen doubled as a Gentleman/Rake who spends his time in a hellfire club and as a masked face-smasher at night. I like how he emulated the trademark Bruce Lee squeals at the final dojo fight scene, where he defeat a bunch of japanese martial art students. If you have the same hidden dislike for Japanese's involvement in WW2 as me, you might love this show a lot (hehe).
Legend of the Fist is a good movie to watch but it recycled too much of the WW2 Japanese war crimes theme (oh wait, can't blame the directors... blame it on Jap's bad reputation during ww2 heh).

I'm back to school, just like a FYP student. However, I'm training for my finals even though I don't even know if I'll be in the finals or not. My lecturers say that the Finals will be totally different from what we did last time. More cables, more items, more equipments, more stress!
Results will be out on 15 Oct. I'm confident, but not fully haha.

The bright say that grades are not important.
The poor may not say that money is important, but they need it.

Drums?

Summary of my life till date: Finished my exams. Training for WSS started. No life.
Bro wanted to buy an electronic drumset, so I looked up the forums for a deal. Almost bought an electronic drumset a few days back, but didnt because of some hesitation. Aww. That got me into wanting to get a drumset too... It'll be fun to have a guitar and a drumset at home!
Ok. so now I want a bass guitar & a drumset. I think I should open a HDB studio...

Need more happy paper

Was Facebooking and hopped from random profile to random profile. Saw this guy's facebook page who appears to be a guitarist. Viewed his photo albums on his guitars... Holy shit good stuff. MIA Yngwie Malmsteem Fender Strat, Jackson blah blah. I thought: "Woah, this guy must have some mad-skills man!". Click on one of his videos, utterly disappointed.
Using a Yngiw Malmsteem Fender to play some Indie music. Wth. I was expecting at least a song with a more decent riff. Ah well, some people can have inadequate skills but buy expensive guitars to compensate. Ugh, envious :<. Looking at starters/noob players practising on expensive guitars makes me wanna cry :'(. I need to upgrade man...
Bro's talking about getting a drumset. Acoustic drumset would sound/feel better, but then we'll need to soundproof the room. Electronic drumset allows silent practice, but the price is STEEP man. I want a big bag of cash right now...

Pulp Fiction!

Pulp Fiction (a 1994 Crime Film) starred John Travolta, Samuel L. Jackson and (not forgetting) Bruce Willis. All those actors were around their 30s (dude, I was only er, 3 or 4?). Pulp Fiction was the few films that really rocketed those actors to fame.
Ok, I feel that Pulp Fiction's script is superbly written. Every conversation (even the little chit-chat) between the characters reveal a little about the character's personality bit by bit. The character development was very good as the viewer will start to develop an understanding towards the character.
Quentin Tarantino likes to chop up his films into chapters and then display them in a random fashion. I felt confused at the start, but then slowly it pieced up together eventually. I love the mix of violence and wit humour. I've not seen a recent hollywood film that possess both adequate action and wit. All I see all the time is just some WTF-BOOM explosion and some actor star would be slow-mo-ing his way out of the blast. Beh.
Overall 4.5/5. Heard Pulp Fiction is a classic, and yeah it really deserves to be one.

I've been watching HBO's TV 7 parts miniseries: Generation Kill. Currently at the 3rd episode.

World Cup Fever?

World Cup ended with Spain as the champions. Ugh.
WC wrecked my health with a slight flu first, then a recurring fever and then now with a very bad cough. *Weees* Managed to finish my CS presentation last Friday.
Not going for PE again. Injured knee's still injured. Sick me's still sick. I need a 仙丹。 Damn
Cough myself to sleep.

Sian Cup 2010

Had a sleepover at my friend's hse on Saturday night. Watched the world cup with a whole bunch of us. Netherlands VS Japan, and 2 more matches which I can't remember. I'm sure I was half-asleep most of the time. This is one of the most boring world cup -_-.
What I hate the most about this year's WC is those damn horns. Vuvezula or whatever they call it. Piece of plastic crap which they call a musical instrument. Everyone was blowing that damn piece of shit all the time making the stadium sound like a hornet nest. That constant humming is really... depressing.
Played iSketch with everyone till 3am. Blacked out on the floor until 5am. Oily fried noodles for breakfast and then bus home.
I'm still freaking tired -_-. bai.
Oooooh yes, and my bro just bought a dslr. Expect pictures of my parrot :D.

Going for gold

I went for a run today. Sadly, I didn't bring along a watch to record my time but I feel I'm "fast" enough.
It takes discipline to train for stamina, in this case, 2.4Km. You got to consider the time of lunch, the amount of food & water you take before the run. You still have to dispel the self-discouragement (lazyness) while planning to run!
I don't get why most people say pull-ups' the most difficult to train for. All you got to do is keep "trying"! *WOH, Neighbour's knocking again... chua sai*. Anyway, its either you are too heavy (fat) or you are too weak. I was bad at pull-ups (ZERO... 0!) before I enter poly. Took some initiative, exercise, toughen up and ta-da manage to "pass" after just 5 months. Now, I can reach 10 or more.
Bronze-d for NAPFA. Could have gotten a Silver if I ran a little faster. Could have gotten a Gold if I ran faster & jumped further. So close but yet so far. Gonna make sure I get at least a Silver or a Gold on the next test :D.
Not physically blessed, thats why I'm working hard to achieve my target (and for the bragging rights :P).
ps (self-motivation): I can sense that they did not expect me to be able to do a single pull. But I did 10. EAT THAT!

The Silence of the Lambs

Just finished another "Hannibal" film called "The Silence of the Lambs". Woo. The film had me holding my breath half the time. I like the way Anthony Hopkin (as Hannibal Lecter) stared into Clarice as he "breaks" her mentally with his constant probing of her past.
So far I've watched: Manhunter, Red Dragon, and The Silence of the Lambs. Leaving, Hannibal and Hannibal Rising before I complete the series.
"I do wish we can chat longer but... I'm having an old friend for dinner. Bye..."

My lovebird's sick :(.
Took it out this evening and it was all lethargic and not interactive. Didn't even bother to fly around. At first I thought it was just being lazy but then it suddenly puked! Puked clear liquid for a few times. I try to comfort it by hugging it in my palms. After a while it returns to the cage by itself... I guess its really sick :(.

Watched ManHunter, a 1986 crime thriller film. Its the 1st part of the "Hannibal Lecter" series. About a serial killer who kills families and William Graham's, a top criminal profiler, investigation. Thrilling... duh. Suspenseful and a nice plot. 7/10. Looking forward to watch its "remake" called "Red Dragon" soon :).

Happy birthday to Desmond, updated late heh. Great dinner at an Indian restaurant on friday. Such a good experience.
Anyway, just finished watching Reservoir Dogs by Quentin Tarantino. I liked it. A very different film style as compared to films nowadays. Eh, you gotta watch & you'll understand heh. 4am now, fudging sleepy liao.
Gonna watch a few more films by Quentin Tarantino... you know, the guy that made "Inglorious Basterds". Yeah him. Went to HMV on friday to scout for for classic films to watch :D.

Bass?

I've this bassline up in my head since Monday. Finally put it down onto GP tabs. Its funny that I'll think or even hear basslines in my head since I don't even play the bass.
Anyway, I'm bloody happy now. It sounds sweeeeeeet. At least it stopped the whirlwind in my head for a past few minutes.
I'm considering a Bass guitar seriously. So many wishes so little cash.

Received an sms from a wss-in-charge that I've training today. So yeah, totally fudged up the day. Ended at 6pm and quickly got to my bus stop.
Stood there like an idiot after 3 packed 72 bus come & go. Finally got onto one and reached home around 7+.
I hope my remaining days in this semester will be the same as today... 8-6pm. I wanna sleeeeeeeep.

I've always like conversations, deep kinds where you talk about serious "personal" issues and those shallow kinds where just you talk crap & rubbish.
What I dislike the most are those conversations where you sit on the line between a deep & a shallow conversation. For a moment you dip into this "mellow" mood and all of a sudden you find yourself talking rubbish. Anti-climax, if you ask me.
Am I right to feel this way? I think I'm a lil happy bunny.

Went to Peninsula. Browsed around for camera & guitar. Finally bought my RHCP shirt! Although its not the exact size I would want it to be, but its still an RHCP shirt (fanboy)!!!
Walked pass this records shop and saw an old black man playing his Strat inside. He looked damn cool playing what sounds to be like Blues in his own shop. Wah, when I grow old I wanna be just like him :D.
Saw so many beautiful guitars: Telecasters, Les Pauls, SGs, Gretsch and Jaguars to name a few. Gretsch guitars look so good that they can be used as decorations instead of musical instruments. And a whole bunch of pedals... My only target was Flanger but it cost $120. =_="
Gotta repay my sleep debt. Sleep (loan) sharks are coming after me.

Woo I'm getting better that restringing my guitar. Looks great now.
Went for my friends' dance performance yesterday at Lucky Plaza... Dumb place to perform. I thought I was sucked into the Philippines. Crappy place, crappy setlist = crappy performance. Stage was too small.
One thing that opened my eyes was this particular (only) rock band.
Formed by 4 middle aged uncles. They looked very normal, no rockstar punkass attitude. They played mainly 70s-80s rock, like Deep Purple and Black Sabbath. Awesome energy (considering their age) and vocals. A pity was that... their setlist kinda suck. Which song by Black Sabbath should anybody play in a cover gig? Iron Man lah! Sian, they played Warpigs instead... Sad.
Glad to see those uncles enjoy themselves, however it was a pity that the audience was made up of teenagers who most likely wouldn't know what the hell they're singing. Guess those uncles were there to make up for those days when they were young and ready to rock... but reality pulls them back. Hah, I think I might be there when I'm at their age too... hahhhh.

Okay firstly, I fail on doing the things I said I'll do yesterday. Fail on the guitar part totally.
Bumped into Bryan at Compass today. Almost didn't recognise him (again). Changed from that thick, long, and wild hair into more "straight" hair. Caught up a little just by standing around and chatting. Seems like FYP in SP sucks. Hope to meet up soon for some crazy shit.
Bumped into a Poly classmate while taking the escalator. Win. 1 trip hit 2 friends.
Had PizzaHut, talked cock and went home.
Its gonna be a late night for me, MOVIE NAI!

Dad's back. Yay!
Anyway, Hz visited me today. Left his acoustic guitar at my place, said that he will come back to collect it after some time. Shiok lah, now I've another guitar to accompany me through my lonely nights.
Having late nights. Sleeping at 3am or 4am almost everyday since the past week. Most of the time doing nothing on the internet, just staring at the screen (well... actually playing guitar :P). Guess I'll have to reset my body clock again.
So, I'll put this time with Hz's acoustic guitar into good use before it gets taken back to its rightful owner! :(. Think I should sleep soon... WSS training tomorrow. Fudge.

Oscars Best Picture Awards: The Hurt Locker!
Eat that Avatar! Blue-elf monkeys jumping around a big-ass tree.
Sorry, I don't like movies targeted for a "Disney" crowd. To me, Avatar is just filled with CG and explosions. The story is pretty weak if you ask me. Only thing that I actually liked was the CG and its "interesting" concept of Humans cohabiting with aliens.
I feel that The Hurt Locker really deserved to win the award! Face-melting awesomeness. Show was so tense all the time. Loved the part where the EOD suit guy says "Well if I'm gonna die, I might as well die comfortably." while taking off his Bomb protection suit. Badass dude. (Y).
So heres some voluntary advertisement for The Hurt Locker.

Argh, its smoky in here. Wtf man, whats the SCDF doing?
Cycled today to Punggol for street soccer with friends. I had to cycle through Tampines Road up north to Punggol. That road was so smoky! At first I thought it was the damn bus/lorry/construction vehicles passing me, but when I look to the side of the road (where all the forest/bush are)... There was smoke rising from there!
Bloody hot weather must have caused a bush fire. Yay, weather win.
I managed to get myself to Punggol in the end. On my way back... thick black smoke was still rising from the forest. Yay great job. I guess hmm... 2 to 4 hours of burning?

The Empyrean

Was spending a little time off studying by reading a biography of one of my favourite musician, John Frusciante, online. Read that he released a new solo album, after he left the Red Hot Chili Peppers, called "The Empyrean". Went to check it out, listened to it and found out that its one of the best music I've ever listened to. Instant Awesome-ness.
I tried to find his official website but all I got was this: Link. What the hell -_-. I guess he really loves simplicity and his own privacy. I'm inspired to play and practice more, AFTER EXAMS!

Heard "Tragedy" By Bee Gees in my Dad's car while on the way to school some days ago.
Went home to "get" the song and went to wiki about it, read a lot about the Bee Gees. Googled around and found a METAL tribute to Bee Gees! Zomfgawd.

Happy CNY 2010

First and foremost, Happy Chinese New Year.
CNY was still alright, the same old things, relatives.. yeah. Feels that its getting a little boring though. Hell boring, sat there with my bro just watching tele for 2-3 hours. Small family results in small amount of cousins. Unfortunately, I can't communicate with most of the cousins... Ok only 2.
By listening in to their conversation (i'm not eavesdropping!), I can assume that we've a lack of common interests. Any attempts on breaking the ice would most probably result in an awkward failure. Best thing to do: wait for relatives to ask you the same old questions. Like, "Where are you studying now?"... Once in a while I'll get more interesting questions but that will stay with me... heh heh.
Somehow my uncle, that I rarely get to meet, found out that I play the guitars (woah sia la...). Stunned when he first said that to me. Hah, must be dad talking about it... But anyway its harmless so its okay.

Had a terrific school day: one filled with self-perceived success. But good things always have to come to an end. Like how you'll always finish your day full of fun with friends and return to your sad & boring home.
I don't know how to start this, but I'll try...
Its so obvious. You might say that I'm being over sensitive but the signs are so clear. There's no doubt now. Injustice is in the house. I returned to a locked door and waited for almost 10 minutes. I felt like a second class family member. And no, its not because of having to bathe in a laundry room. No. There is this feeling that's itching me. I'm making hundreds of comparisons in my head now. The conclusion is: I'm not being treated fairly.

Woke up at 6am today, cos' I wanted to be early for the last Cost Accounting lecture. In the end, I dozed off on my bed and woke up at 7.30am! Holy smokes! Rushed to school and managed to reach at 8.20am.
Somehow, my head started to feel heavy. I told myself "Oh fuck, giddy again.". Yeah, indeed... I was feeling giddy the whole day. Luckily I managed to "tong" until dismissal time.
Practiced for RAD lab test tomorrow in school. Read the codes just now. Hope my head will not spin tomorrow. Sleep early, rest well guys.

Yesterday's concert at NP was great. Good bands and of course the best performance by my friends haha :P.
2nd band was instrumental, metal, technical and plain awesome.
3rd band was nu-metal, refreshing and energetic.
Had a great time :D.
Anyway, I think I'm gonna get my CT results tomorrow. FUDGE. Liao, confirm si kiao kiao.

I've been playing BORDERLANDS the whole of yesterday. Interesting art-style and graphics. Funny occasions & conversations. Good fighting mechanics. OH YEAH and I LUUVES the theme song of Borderlands! (Y)
Anyway...
Goon's initial plan to visit my house this morning was to play & learn the guitar. However, we ended up playing Borderlands on LAN. DAMN FUN! Woo!
School's starting tomorrow. FUDGE! I hope this coming thursday & friday would be e-learning days! Stay at home, "e-learn", play the guitar, play Borderlands, slack, and grow fat. I'll love that kinda life.
